When next you are going to shop for food items especially processed and packaged food items, do the following.:

* Eat before you shop

* Read the nutrition facts label and ingredient list

* Compare foods- by checking their serving size, the calories, and their % daily value.

* Choose bread products higher in fibre

* Choose low-fat products

* Choose water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages

* Choose non-pasteurized yogurt
